nearer caves, the Vampire (S 3°50'26" - E 14°30'02 , M and the Adam cave (S 3°50'24'* - E 14°3Q'00"), were outside of the scope of the main research area. The work in the forest, the galery woods, and the savanna were of approximately uniform intensity. 2. The IRHO Research Station in Sihiti lies about 5 km from the county centre Sibiti (S 3°40 , 22" - E 13°20 t 23 , % 547 m a.s.l.; 23 Nov. 1963 - 3 Dec. 1963). The Institution is surrounded by the alternating plots of oil palm plantations and continuous forest lots extending toward Cameroon-Gabon. Collectings were made in the forests and plantations near the Institution, as well as in its park, around a nearby artificial water-basin, along the shores of a nearby brook, and on the pastures of the Institute. The expedition visited twice the galery woods of a brook near the village Zanzi (S 3°40'47" - E 13°10»57"), and once the 60 m high waterfall of the Bouenza river, hemmed in by an extensive galery forest (S 3°50'22'* - E 13°40'35**, 424 m a.s.l.). 3. Loudima (SAGRO ) (4 Dec. 1963 - 15 Dec. 1963). The Institution lies outside of the county centre Loudima (S 4 ÎO'OO*' - E 13°00*39"). Its plots serve Arachis cultivation experiments. The soil of the surrounding degraded areas is covered by extensive Carex meadows. Collectings have been made in sites of also other kinds of cultivations around the country seat, thus in the nurseries of numerous, mainly imported tree species of the forestry, in burnt and unburnt secondary savannas; in mainly mango, orange, and banana plantationa of the orchardry ; in the sugar-cane plantation of the nearby Jacob sugar plant ; and on the pastures of a dairy-farm. 4. The Mt.Pouari Reservation, partly extending into Gabon CS 2°38»00»* - E 11°34 , 04» , ; 12 Dec. 1963 - 14 Dec. 1963). The Reservation is on a vast savanna area, with rain, that is, galery woods on the slopes of the Mt . Pouari and the river meandering around ita declivities. The collectings made
