1 of the female skull from grave B-5, and all four upper incisors of the male skull from grave B-l 3 were missing, the alveolar resorption was complete with an initial bone atrophy, but without any trace of an inflammation, and neither could traces of a possible blow or other injury be noted. The upper left PM1 of the skull from grave B-5 was also missing, alveolar resorption was complete, i. e. the possibility of an artificial removal cannot be rejected in this case either. 4 and thus there is increasing evidence for the custom of removing incisors for - a yet unknown - practical or ritual reason among the ALP population. Beside of the chronologically and geographically distant Mesolithic cemetery uncovered at Taforalt in northern Africa, a closer analogy to this custom was observed on the adult skeletons from sites of the Lepenski Vir culture.
