István Vörös: A Solymári barlang középső pleisztocén emlősfaunája

MIDDLE PLEISTOCENE FAUNA 43 Still further excavations in the Solymár Cave were carried out in the spring of 1946 when the Pilisszentivány Coal Mines share company could provide equipment and assistents for L. Vértes. The „Glacial" animal remains found in the Denevér terem (Bat Hall, A/5) were determined and published by L. Vértes in 1950 (Table 4) 4. Solymár В — Solymár Quarry В/1 . Cleft (incorrectly cavern, cavity, rock-shelter) An explosion in the quarry of the Sziklás Hill revealed a North-South direction cleft (B/l) in the August of 1906, the reddish brown clay sediment of which yielded a great quantity of fossil animal remains. Till the final blowing up of the cleft on the 17th July in 1907, K. Budinszky collected ca. 800 animal remains. K. Budinszky was the first who determined the remains and reported his results 5. After it, in 1927 the finds were published by A. Kubacska (later TasnádiKubacska) (Table 4.) 6. B/2. Kecskes^in Cave (or Kecskeistálló Cave, Kecske Cave, „Goat stable" Cave, Goat Cave) "It is a cave with a high vaul and a huge rock gate feeing to the North, in the upper end of a gully deeply cut into the slope of the Sziklás Hill." During the 1907 excavation prehistoric potsherds, chracoal and animal remains were found in it. The Kecskeszín Cave is at the same height as the upper end of the Cleft (B/l) 7. B/3. "Kőfejtő Cave " (Quarry Cave; L. Vértes and Gy. Topái in 1958). Destroyed. 2. PALEONTOLOGICAL LOCALITIES AND FINDS IN THE SOLYMÁR CA VE-SOLYMÁR A L. Vértes made a three dimensional gypsum model of the first section of the cave well representing the complicated caverns system of the cave. I reconstructed a schematic isometric representation of part of the cave (Fig. 1.) on the basis of a photo 8 this model and according to drawings 9 of the ground plan and the cross-section of the cave. This is suitable to indicate on it the original places of paleontological finds of different ages and collected in different times 4 Vértes 1950. 5 V>udins%ky 1907, 493.; Id., Solymár egykori rengetegjeinek ősoroszlánjai.
