1914 March and April. He gives a series of lectures on relationship between freemasonry and the free thinkers' movement. 1914 May. He participates in the work of the organizing committee of the National Radical Bourgeois Party. 1914 June 6th. He acts as recording secretary at the organizing session of NRBP. (Elected secretariat: Béla Halasi, Ede Hercog, Miklós Iván, Zsigmond Kende, Károly Polányi, József Rédei and Henrik Vámos.) 1915 He is sent to the front after of a volunteer officers' course. 1917 At the end of the year he is sent back to Budapest as a war-disabled veteran. 1918 Late in the year he is elected a member of People's Council and also - together with Gusztáv Seiden, Pál Demény, Pál Róth and István Róth - member of the Students' Council. 1918 December 1st. As the representative of NRBP, he gives a speech at the plenary session of the Szeged Radical Party. 1918 December. He is editor of the newly launched Szabadgondolat ('Free Thought') until its suspension (Co- editors: Zoltán Rudas and Miklós Sisa.) 1919 February 6th. He gives a festive speech on the occasion of Endre Ady's funeral ('Oration to the Youth of the Galilei Circle') in the festival hall of the University. The other speaker of the ceremony- Georg Lukács - gives an evaluation of Ady's poetry. 186
