1992. június hó 9. oldal veral of the church family also joined us to celebrate this wonderful occasion. This year, our Activities Director Evelyn McHugh, planned a co-operative craft and bake sale. Several new craft people joined the Bethesda arts and craft class to display their beautifully handmade items. Although our advertisements were inadvertently excluded from the newspaper and radio, and also that it was out lot to weather a severe rainstorm, the joint efforts of all were honored in spite of the setbacks. The volunteers, sales force and dwellers joined together at noon to enjoy a delicious lasagna dinner — there were 91 of us. Our heartfelt thanks to our residents, visitors, volunteers and staff for the excellent job. The bake sale is always a highlight of any function held at Bethesda. We are most grateful to the Bethesda Baptist Church Ladies who worked many hours to help us on this special day. To encourage a little more interaction and smiles, a day was set aside for all to participate in “Polka Dot Day”. Each person at Bethesda was asked to wear something with polka dots. For those who felt they had nothing appropriate, our resident Laura Morgan volunteered to make cloth bows to wear. The TNT musical group added to the festivities with an afternoon of enjoyable musical selections. We covet your prayers for the complete operation of The Home, its wonderful residents and most helpful staff. We especially thank Mr. Elmer Kish for being with us during the week of April 19th. May God richly bless each of you for your prayerful support. She had accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age and had served Him faithfully to the very end. She had distinguished herself as a real estate saleslady and had at all times displayed honesty, integrity and a Christian demeanor in all of her public dealings. Since she displayed the love of God in her business life, people wanted to do business with her. She was a lifelong member of the Silliman Memorial Baptist Church in Bridgeport, Conn. She is survived by her husband Julius Kish, two daughters, Sharron Havanich and Darleen Janis, and one grandson, Brian Havanich. She also leaves behind three sisters and one brother. Although she is absent from the family circle and she is sorely missed, we know that she is present with her Lord whom she had loved and served for so many years. Ps 146:5, “Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord is God”. Mary had been happy in serving her Lord, and we know that she is with Him eternally. We will remember her with love throughout the years to come. jrjjy * * * KATHERINE SZAKACS 1907-1991 Katherine Szakacs, of Garfield, New Jersey went to be with the Lord on April 17, 1991. She lived almost 84 years, all of which was in the service of the Lord at the Hungarian Baptist Church of Garfield, New Jersey. Her family had been one of the founding fathers of that church and Katherine just continued the work throughout her entire lifetime. She was a sunday school teacher and superintendant. She was church clerk, organist and president of the Mission Guild. In addition, she opened a store front bible class in Passaic, N.J. where many lives were won for the Lord. Katherines life was one of service to her Lord and to her many friends who relied upon her services that they were no longer able to provide for themselves. She is survived by a brother, Bill Cooke and his wife Irene of Fort Meyers, Florida, and neice Loraine Aniceto and nephew William Cooke and their respective families. Katherine lived a long and productive life, and heaven is rejoicing with her presence there. We praise there. We praise the Lord for giving her to us for so many years. She was responsible for spreading the good news to many of her friends and family. She is now with her Lord whom she loved and served for so many years. She will be missed, but we know that we shall meet once again in thathome that even now is being prepared for us. There we shall never part again. This has been promised to us by the Lord and His promises never fail. We look forward to that meeting. The family of Katherine Szakacs Küldjön egy fényképet! A képeket rövid magyarázattal a szerkesztő címére kérjük. A közösségünket feltehetőleg érdeklő, arra érdemes képeket és a hozzá fűzött magyarázatot közölnénk. A képeket a beküldő kérésének megfelelően vagy visszaküldjük, vagy felvesszük a Floridában lévő Amerikai Magyar Baptista Szövetség Történelmi Gyűjteményébe. Kedves olvasónk: küldjön egy fényképet!
