Kedves olvasó: add át a szívedet Jézusnak te is! », A fehérruhások és a szolgálattevők A gyülekezet énekel The cross, the center of our life — (1 Corinthians 2:1-5) = Dear brothers and sisters, we have a clear commandment to preach the gospel to every nation, everywhere on the earth. And not only that, we have wonderful plans to evangelize the world. Just recently we received the call from the Southern Baptist president, Morris Chapman to start 2000 new churches in this year. Or, we all know about the plan to reach everyone with the gospel before the year 2000. Most of the Baptist organizations accepted this plan after the Seoul congress of the Baptist World Alliance. The first sentence of the Seoul Covenant reads: We dedicate ourselves anew to the task of world evangelization with the aim that by A. D. 2000 every person will have the opportunity to respond to the message of God’s love in Jesus Christ in an authentic and meaningful way. ” But how can we meet our goals, or, what is more important, how can we be faithful to the great commission of the Lord Jesus Christ? There was a time when not too many churches existed. People did not know about Jesus. And then, some 2000 years ago a man, we call him Paul, the apostle, began to preach the gospel. He was not a simple man, like the fisherman, Peter, or John, and alike. He was not just an educated man — he was the best educated pharisee of his time. He began to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. He did everything he could. After some time he discovered, that everything failed: people resisted superior wisdom, philosophy, eloquence in speech; but, surprisingly, people were receptive to the message about Jesus Christ, who died for us on the cross. Before he went to Corinth, to the big city, he made a clear choice. Paul decided not to preach anything but the gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. The person of Jesus and the cross. People came to the cross, accepted the Savior; new churches were founded, the number of the believers grow day by day. And what is the center of our ministry? What is our main goal? And how do we try to fulfill it? Individually and institutionally. What our churches are doing? If we want to meet the goal, we must make a clear choice, a clear decision: to place the person of Jesus Christ and His cross into the center of our preaching, and what is more, into the center of our life. Regardless of our language and our heritage. We don’t have the same talents, but if we all put Jesus first and in the middle of our life, we will become useful servants of the Lord. Closing remarks: Do we really want to spread the gospel? Aren’t we too busy with our daily life? Because, if we don't care about the Great Commission, than we don’t need to focus on the cross. Than we don’t need to make any changes in our life. Let us do the same as Paul did: make the cross of Christ the center to our life! Rev. G.
