importance, put up in 1909 by the canons Ferenc Maszlaghy and Antal Pór. The srarues are the works of György Kiss, a Budapest sculptor. On the left: Csanád Telegdi, he was under whom the reconscruccion of the former cathedral began. The inscription says: CSANÁD TELEGDI, PRIMATE OF ESZTER­GOM. 1330-1349. On the right: Louis THE GREAT, KING OF HUNGARY, KING OF POL­LAND KING OF DALMACY, 1342-1382. We can find two huge coats of arms; they are rhe ones of the four cardinals who built the cathedral. All of them were carved in rhe workshop of Joannes Hutterer, in to the order of primate Simor. From left to right: e the one of Sándor Rudnay (1819-31), with the inscription: COEPIT he scarred ic f rhe one of Sándor Kopácsy (1838-47), with rhe inscription CONTINUAVIT he continued it g the one of János Scitovsky (1849-66), with the inscription: CONSECRAVIT he consacrated it H the one of Já­nos Simor (1867-91), with che inscription CONSUMMAVIT he has finished it. 22. The Statue of Man-. On the frontage of the house at 24, Bajcsy­Zsilinszky street. It was made of burn porcelain. It is to be found in a front niche of a former canonic-house of Eclectic style. The statue itself is of Neo­renaissance style. 23. The Statue of The Flogged Christ. To be found in the upper right cor­ner of the City Cemetery, it was made of limestone. The figure of Chrisc stands on a cylindrical post. Chrisc is tied to a column and wears a loin­cloth. The figure is smaller then human size. In the Baroque flagellation was a commonly represented scene of the passion of Christ. The statue must have been put up in che 18th or 19th cent, and must be a pledge memorial. 24. The Stacue of St. Florian. It stands on the Dobogókő mam road, beside the Chapel of St. Rose. It was made of limestone. Originally it stood at the end of Calvary street, on the corner of the building of Heismann and his Son's soap-factory. The factory was founded it 1767. After a great damage caused by fire the owner put up che statue as pledge memorial. Later it was moved to its present place. This piece is of an unknown author. 25. The Statue of The Trinity. It stands in Szécheny Square in front of the Town Hall, in the middle of the park. A statue was erected in most of the Hungarian towns in honour of the Trinity, Mary or John of Nepomuk. In 1710. a contract was signed by János Riedr and the leaders of the town accor­ding to which che sculptor had to make a group of statues representing the scene of the coronation of Mary by the Trinity.
