A0STRACT: (Personal names in the geographical names of a Hungarian village, Körösladány) Like in other similar villages, many of the geographical names have had antecedents of personal names. Because of the relatively plain surface with few striking and lofty formations, the names of the owners and proprietors had a great importance. People orientated after the owners' names of the liouses, buildings and manors. The majority of these geographical names consist of two parts: n personal name and a common noun. Centuries ago christiao names and in the last hundred years mainly family names were used to nominate certain territories and objects. After the redistribution of landed property and organizing the co-operatives, there is no need of using the traditional geographical names any more, which makes the terminology unvaried and monotonous.
