Summary SEARCHING FOR THE DOCUMENTS CONCERNING THE PEASANT REBELLION OF 1573. IN CROATIA, PRESERVED IN FOREIGN ARCHIVES The staff of the Archives of Croatia works on the research project "The peasant rebelion of 1573. in Croatia", intending to collect copies of all documents concerning the rebellion. In 1969. and 1970. research work was done in the central archives and libraries of Hungary, Austria and Slovakia. The most important documents describing the circumstances on the feudal manor Susjedgrad —Stubica (where the rebellion started) were found in the Hungarian State Archives (Budapest), v. g. the terrier of Susjedgrad and Stubica, dated 1566, with additions from 1569. Newly discovered documents, recording questions and answers during the trial of the captured rebels, deserve special mention as well. In the Central State Archives of Slovakia no documents relating to the military operations during the rebellion were found. There have been noted some letters illustrating the quarrels of the Croatian noblemen interested in Susjedgrad (1565). The records of the Erdödy family contain a significant mass of data about various possessions in Croatia and wars against the Turks. The main effort in the Austrian archives was to prepare the previously found documents to be xerocopied. Only a limited number of new findings was registered, e. g. the acts of the trial against P. Ratkaj and J. Dornberg for robbing the Styrian peasants during the rebellion. In the Austrian National Library the Fugger news (cod. 8949) yielded three original contemporary reports from Vienna on the peasant rebellion, and one from Venice. Short mentions of the same rebellion are inserted into various handwritten chronicles of Styria, preserved in the same Library. 512
