Szent Columbanus Szent Márton sírjánál 19 lajdonított a Tours-ban történt eseményeknek. A szent ereklyéi mellett imádsággal töltött éjszaka és azok a csodák, amelyek Szent Márton óvó támogatását jelezték, lehettek olyan megerősítő jelek, amelyek aztán arra ösztönözték Columbanust, hogy ne Írország, hanem Itália felé folytassa az útját.
