The Censored Copy of Pál Budai’s Oration at the Funeral of Ádám Dőry in the Manuscript Collection of the Library of the Archabbey in Pannonhalma

While analysing the Manuscript of 10a-E-8/2 held in the Library of the Archabbey in Pannonhalma, I adopt a special point of view. I examine the document – a censored copy of a Roman Catholic sermon in Hungarian from the 18th

century – in the light of the inspector’s activity. The course of research reveals the career, life-work and manuscriptcorrections of Farkas Tóth, the inspector. In addition, based on the oration at the funeral of Ádám Dőry, I outline its peculiarities in respect of the genre and cultural history.
