CALVIN SYNOD HERALD 13 The American Hungarian Reformed Presbyters’ Association 65th Annual Meeting August 27th and 28th 2011 Opening Devotion was led by Frank Király, President followed by Bible Study led by Rev. Walter Goss, Youth Minister of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Trenton NJ. The theme for Bible Study was taken from Luke 15:1-10. Rev. Goss began by telling us, small churches can do great things. Some shared their compassion for sports, children, elderly, Sunday School, our Hungarian organizations and missions. From Luke 15:8, the coin represents a Lost Person; one sheep, one coin, one son becomes many people. Like Nehemiah a vision begins with a first step. Don’t be afraid, be encouraged. Our Guest Speaker was Rev. Eric O. Springstead, Ph.D. He spoke on “Moral and Spiritual Leadership.” He told us, we must rely on God as Elders, being an Elder is a calling. We visited the ten commandments of Moral and Spiritual Leadership. Willingness, Humility, Good Intentions, Respect, Trust Worthiness, Listen, Conflict, Concern and Vision. Rev. Springstead encouraged us to spend time each day to read a Bible verse and then think about what we read. Spend time in silence and prayer. The Sunday morning session was opened with a short mediation by President, Frank Király. Committee reports were given. Michael Varga of the American Hungarian Reformed Church of Allen Park, MI was elected Vice-President of Western District. Rev. Imre A. Bertalan installed Mr. Varga and Secretary, Dr. Sharon Jonson. An open discussion followed. For over an hour our Elders spoke freely on many topics concerning our meeting, our churches, etc. One of the best conversation I have witnessed in years. The meeting was closed with Divine Worship Service in Moriah Chapel with Rev. Eric O. Springstead, Ph.D. Sermon title “Working in the Vineyard”. The Service of the Lord’s Supper was led by Rev. Gabor Nitsch, assisted by Rt. Rev. Bela Poznan, Bishop of Calvin Synod, Rt. Rev. Koloman K. Ludwig, and Rev. Eric O. Springstead, Ph.D. We thank the Bethlen Communities for their hospitality. We look forward to seeing you at next year’s meeting. Respectfully submitted by Wilburn A.
