Bertalan Executive Director Michael Walker Administrator Help Our Magyar Brothers and Sisters in Beregszász! Editor s note: We recently received the following letter from Dr. István Komjáthy regarding his work as a Medical Missionary at a hospital clinic serving Hungarians in Beregszasz/Munkacs (Ukrajna/Ukraine). The hospital clinic there lacks modern medical equipment and basic medical supplies. Dr. Komjáthy hopes to raise funds to purchase a CT Scanner to better help the residents of Beregszász and nearby areas. Dear Friends of Hungarian Missions! I have recently returned to Beregszász after a week in the USA. I spent the week in USA in Kansas, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina and New York City. My goal was provide information to various groups and people so that they can be informed of the plight of the people of this part of the world and to help us obtain funds for a CT Scanner. I also went back to the states to collect a modem lightweight Digital ECG machine, brand new lightweight and portable Digital Ultrasound Machine, stethoscopes, medicines, computers, software and also to rearrange some finances. The Ultrasound and ECG will arrive in Beregszász on Wednesday as a colleague of mine in Hungary also hoped to use it in his clinic in Debrecen. Additionally, in the hope of raising funds for the CT Scanner, I also gave presentations on the Medical Mission to the following individuals, groups and organizations: Hungarian Reformed Church (Calvin Synod) Classis meeting at Bethlen Communities in Ligonier, PA.; Group of Haitian church members in Brooklyn, NY; Traveler groups at various airport lounges at JFK, Budapest, Amsterdam, Brussels; Group of pharmacists from the University of North Carolina in Hilton Head, South Carolina; Hospitalist (and medical school best friend) Dr Dennis Garver in Cary, North Carolina; Hasentree Country Club staff and members in Wake Forest, NC. Please continue to pray for God’s blessings on the Medical Mission of Beregszász including for modem medical equipment and basic medical supplies. I thank everyone in advance, for your ongoing help, encouragement and prayers. Peace and Blessings - Aldas Bekesseg, Dr. István Komjáthy October, 2009 CT SCANNER for BEREGSZÁSZ Donations for the CT Scanner may be sent to: First Hungarian Reformed Church of Pittsburgh 221 Johnston Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15207 Please write “CT scanner for Beregszász ” in the memo line of the check.
