8 CALVIN SYNOD HERALD (Continued from page 7) pared by him and Ms. Julie Skovira listed the various repairs that will be needed before the building could be used for anything. These repairs include replacement of tiles in shower rooms, electrical outlets that need to be changed, windows that need repaired or changed, the elevators will soon need to be serviced and repaired at a cost of $40,000-$60,000, the security system needs upgrade and additions etc. The Committee recommends to prepare a feasibility study about the possibility of developing the North wing of the building for Personal Care. 3. Father Michael Massouth, the Executive Director of Antiochian Village, gave a report on the history of development of the institution. The report included a description of the many uses of the Heritage Museum they have on the premises. This report was valuable, because it gave us an opportunity to see how another religious organization in the proximity of the Bethlen Home was able to establish on its campus several of those items that we would like to plan: museum, archives, library, conference center, and youth camp. 4. Mr. James F. Pezzutti, Director of Division of Long Term Care Client Services from the Coomnwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, gave a prezentation on the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). This program, which is coordinated with the state Medicaid program, authorizes and compensates Long Term Care Facilities that meet certain conditions, to provide a comprehensive all-inclusive package of health care services to 55 and older people, who would be otherwise Nursing Facility elligible, in their own home. By providing this care in the person’s own home, Medicaid saves money, the Nursing Facility receives compensation (15% less than that for a resident in the facility) without using its room capacity, after some time, these patients may need to be transferred into the nursing home, but their time in the nursing home will be shorter. Many people prefer to stay at home for as long as it is possible before moving in a facility. This program works to the advantage of all parties. Qualification for participation in this program includes a feasibility study that needs to be approved by the Department of Welfare. The Strategic Planning Committee recommends the Executive Committee to explore the PACE program with a possibility of implementing it at The Bethlen Home, perhaps in partnership with an other Long Term Care Facility in the area. 5. Mr. László Hamos and Peter Jozsa gave an outline on a comprehensive marketing program via the internet and a web page for the entire Bethlen Communities. Mr. Hamos already works on the Bethlen Home homepage. He emphasized the need to have an effective presence on the web. It is important to be linked to as many as possible sites related to health care, to religious organizations, Hungarian cultural organizations etc. They also mentioned the advantages of being on the front of the result pages when somebody enters a keyword in a search engine. They mentioned some advantages that are available in certain arrangements with the search engine Google. Following these presentations Mr. George Dózsa introduced Ms. Judit Zambo. the new HRFA Fraternal Coordinator. She explained her plans of recording and coordinating the events of the Branches and the Bethlen Home. The Strategic Planning Committee welcomed Ms. Zambo and wished her God’s blessings in her new position. Finally it was agreed that the two co-chairpersons, Rev. Ilona Komjáthy and Rev. Les Martin, in consultation with Rev Imre A. Bertalan, will invite several construction and architecture firms for our next meeting. These firms will present themselves to us and will explain how they can help us during our planning process. The next meeting was set for January 20, 2005. As discussed and agreed upon, the SPC extended invitation to various construction and architectural firms. On January 20 we had the privilige of listening to seven interesting and very diverse presentations from as many companies. Anyone who needs to know their names or what they said, may get more info from any member of the Committee. For this report I just mention the names of the two companies we chose at the end of the day to invite back for a second presentation. These are :Moore Consulting, and Noelker and Hull Associates Inc. Both of these firms had many good points in their presentation, but we need the second presentation to have a more detailed understanding of their abilities and the cost of their services. The meeting to listen to them has been arranged for February 10.1 will inform you about these presentations and our recommendations following the presentations in my next report.
