CALVIN SYNOD HERALD 9 WHO IS AN INFIDEL ? in.fi.del, n. 1. a person who has no religious faith; unbeliever. 2. Relig. a. a person who does not accept a particular faith, esp. Christianity, b. (in Muslim use) a person who does not accept the Islamic faith; a kaffir.. ... heathen, ... Random House College Dictionary HOLY BIBLE God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He that believeth on Him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. - John 3:16-18 He that believeth on the Son of God hath everlasting life', and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life. -John 3:36 HEIDELBERG CATECHISM Q. 32: But why are you called a Christian? A. Because by faith I am a member of Christ and thus a partaker of his anointing, in order that I also may confess his name, may present myself a living sacrifice of thankfulness to Him, and may with free conscience fight against sin and the Devil in this life; and hereafter, in eternity, reign with Him over all creatures. Q. 84: How is the kingdom of heaven opened and shut by the preaching of the holy gospel? A. In this way; ... to all unbelievers and hypocrites, that the wrath of God and eternal condemnation abide on them, so long as they are not converted; according to which witness of the gospel will be the judgment of God both in this life and in that which is to come. Q. 82: Are they then also to be admitted to this Supper who show themselves to be, by their confession and life, unbelieving and ungodly? A. No; for by this the covenant of God is profaned and his wrath provoked against the whole congregation; wherefore the Christian Church is bound, according to the order of Christ and his apostles, by the office of the keys to exclude such persons until they amend their life. Q. 103: What does God require in the fourth commandment? (Remember the sabbath day ....) A. In the first place, that the ministry of the gospel and the school be maintained; and that I, especially on the day of rest, diligently attend church, to learn the word of God, to use the holy sacraments, to call publicly upon the Lord, and to give Christian alms ... and thus begin in this life the everlasting Sabbath. □ Steve Rathmanner received a diploma for reciting the catechism at Reformed Presbyterian Church in Manassas, Virginia. Steven Nyeste’s Australia Report (continued from previous issue) The next day, we said goodbye to Sydney. We left for Vision Valley, our destination for the day. We spent that day challenging ourselves and “going outside of our comfort zone” as we were told by the FULL ON team. We broke up into teams of eight, and each team did different things. The first activity my team did was the rope course. Here, we had to walk along sets of ropes while having two people on our sides protecting us in case we would fall The course was a lot harder than it looked, and I was really thankful that I had two people next to me! After the rope course we had lunch. Afterward, we went to abseil down a huge rock. I have never tried abseiling before, so I did not know what to expect. It was hard at first, because at one point, you had to have your whole back leaning against nothing, and you had to trust the ropes that were holding you. But after I got through that fear I descended down the rock. I liked it a lot, so I was able to do it blindfolded too. This was an option that when I first heard about it, I didn’t dare even think about trying. I thought I would be way too scared. Later, though, I convinced myself that an opportunity like this might never come again, so I decided to do it. And indeed it was hard then, but now it feels good being able to say that I did it. After the abseiling, we went to the last activity for the day: The Zip Line. This was something that I had been waiting for. It was an obstacle course. But when I actually got ready to do it, I felt nervous. It didn’t help at all that before I got to go off the zip line, I had to walk onto a mini pirate ship, and “walk the plank.” The plank was some wooden board that was outside the ship. You had to jump off of it. It was really an interesting feeling, looking down about 100 and some feet in the air. In the
