YOUTH WORK AND FAMILY LIFE COMMITTEE 1. The committee began last year with an ambitious plan to hold a Synod-wide family retreat weekend. Upon further investigation the plan turned out to be not very practical for several reasons. Scaled down to reality we are therefore encouraging each Classis to organize and hold a day long retreat to bring Church families together for fellowship, fun and worship. 2. It would be our recommendation to have a separate camp session for young adults aged 18-25. Motion made to receive the report, seconded and passed. Rt. Rev. Louis Medgyesi, Bishop of the Calvin Synod. - Bishop Medgyesi spent a few minutes detailing his personal feelings concerning his role as Bishop. He thanked all those who had helped him in this role or “call”, especially the former Bishops of the Synod. And a special thank you for his wife, Elizabeth, and all that she has put up with over the past six years. He always tried to follow the central idea of his message from this year’s Opening Worship Service about being a Servant at all times.
