the “Hungarian Hermit of the Himalayas”. On the evening of April 28th, a lecture was again given by Dr. Kubassek on the life and work of Count László Almassy. The title was “Who was the English Patient Really? - In Search of a Hungarian Explorer of the Sahara.” On Saturday, May 20th, a bus trip to Atlantic City was organized by Betty and Bob Chace. We thank them very much for their hard work. On June 2nd, a concert was given by the Uszturu Hungarian Folk Ensemble of Marosvasarhely, Transylvania. We enjoyed this concert very much. On August 5th—10th and 20th-24th, we hosted the gathering for the Hungarian Scout Jamboree with guests from Europe and South America. Approximately 115 Hungarian Scouts were our guests at that time. It was a great joy to see all these Hungarian youngsters from all over the world. On the Friday evening of September 29th, I gave a presentation at the Calvin Hall on my trip to Australia. On Saturday, October 7th, a bus trip to Atlantic City was again organized by Betty and Bob Chace. On Saturday evening of October 14th, a gala dinner was held at Calvin Hall in honor of Rev. Imre Bertalan. On Sunday, October 22nd at 9:30 a.m., we had a bilingual service with choir music. The theme was “Let Us Worship Our Lord With Music.” Our guest for the morning service and for the day was the Female Chamber Choir of Janus Pannonius University of Pecs, Hungary. Following the bilingual service, at 11:00 a.m., we had an Ecumenical Worship Service at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church. On the afternoon of that Saturday, the Annual Harvest Dinner combined with the Celebration of the 105th Anniversary of our church was held at Calvin Hall. It was a truly wonderful day for us, with guests from here and abroad. We gave thanks on that day to the Creator Lord for all His goodness and blessings to our congregation. On Sunday afternoon of October 29th, the Eastern Division of the American Hungarian Presbyters’ Association Meeting was held at Calvin Hall. The topic was, “Facing Cultural Changes Within Our Churches.” Our guest speaker was Dr. Ernest Kovács who is a former trainer of public managers at the Human Resources Development Institute in Princeton, and has conducted many discussions on managing changes and the stresses that come with those changes. The afternoon was very beneficial to all. On Friday evening December 29th , there was a Hungarian folk presentation of the Kodály Ensemble of Toronto. It was a very joyous occasion. In this year of 2001,1 would like to continue with the visitation of our sick and elderly people, and I would also like to continue with the regular visitations of families. 46
