DUQUESNE, PENNSYLVANIA Hungarian Reformed Church Duquesne, Pennsylvania Pastor: Dr. Joseph Posta Chief Elder and Co-Treasurer: Jules Nagy Officers: Pastor: Dr. Joseph Posta, Chief Elder and Co-Treasurer: Jules Nagy, Assistant Chief Elder: Marian Nagy, Secretary and Co- Treasurer: Barbara Revak. The congregation of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Duquesne is alive and active in Christian ministry. Dedicated church members faithfully ensure the continuing ministry of Christ to the congregation and the community as well. These church members have responded to the challenge by supporting and participating in several activities to keep the congregation both spiritually and financially alive. To name just two, they made home-made kolbász and baked and sold approximately 800 rolls for Christmas. Thanks to the small group of church members, these projects were a success. The week prior to Christmas, a Sunday School Program and Congregational Luncheon was held with Christmas Carols being sung. The Sunday School Staff thanks Mrs. Julia Nagy for her program presentation. On Christmas Eve, a candlelight service was held. We hosted a Community Lenten Vesper Service, held a memorial Service at our church cemetery, recognized the ladies of the church on Mother’s Day as well as honoring the men on Father’s Day. In May, Rev. Dr. Joseph Posta was chosen by the National Clergy Council of Washington, D.C. to be a member of a panel discussion on the conflict in Kosovo and Novisad, formerly in Yugoslavia. Both CNN and the International News Channel covered the discussion which was broadcast live. On October 23, 1999, with a great deal of joy, we celebrated the 75th diamond anniversary of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America, which originated here at our church in 1924. In June of 2000, our congregation will celebrate their 90th year of existence. We are mindful of our heritage, we are interested in our past, in its beginning and in its accomplishments. By having God with us, we should be confident concerning our congregation’s future. 157
