L. to r: Julia Nagy, Barbara Revak, Eleanor Wargo, Marion Nagy and Alice Wargo preparing the food for the Annual Hungarian Heritage Day Celebration at the church in July 1998. Hungarian Heritage Day was held in July, 1997. Barbara Revak in many ways advertised this event. The attendance was unbelievable. People came from all corners of Pittsburgh and beyond. The realized profit was around $6,000. On March 15, the Hungarian Reformed Federation held their Annual Western Pennylvania District Meeting, followed by a luncheon. The church also hosted the community Lenten services. A beautiful rug was purchased for the living room of the parsonage. Open house was held there in June, so all parishioners could view the result. The Congregation was invited to participate in the annual Pierogi Festival, held in September at Sand Castle Water Park. This involved many hours of preparation. Due to only a few enrolled students for Sunday School, the two classes were combined into one class. On December 14, a Christmas program was held after the church service. The Sunday School staff thanks Mrs. Julia Nagy for her program presentation. Concerning the vital statistics of the church it is sad to say, there were three funerals. Pertaining to the year 1998,1 would like to report the following: Due to the resignation of Rev. Sickles in March, guest speakers came to the church on Sundays, mainly from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, also Rev. Alexander Jalsó from Brownsville and Rev. Dr. Joseph Posta from Ligonier. In April, the church hosted a Community Worship service, 128
