Bethlen Almanac 1998 (Ligonier)

Nyugati Egyházmegye - Western Classis

1998 Confirmation Class L. to r.: Rev. Zoltán S. Sutto, Ashley Nagy, Kelli Kazmier, and Shannon Nagy. Francis Vitéz, Calvin Synod. This service marked the completion of four score years of service to the worshipping and praising of our heavenly Father for all the good things that He, in His Benevolence, had bestowed upon this church of believers, that was started by a small group of Hungarians, who felt that it was very important for them to be able to worship God in their own tongue. 1998 marked the beginning of our ninth decade and in this year many of the things that happened in all of our churches also occurred here. We had two weddings and a renewal of a couple’s marriage vows on the celebration of their 35th anniversary. Four baptisms were performed, three children and one adult. What makes this stand out is that the adult who was baptized was the great-grandfather of one of the infants - so we were honored that a great-grandson and his great-grandfather were admitted into the Body of Jesus Christ on the same day. We had two church members who returned their souls to the Creator during the year. Three young ladies were confirmed and became active members of our church. Our church also had two kolbász sales and a very successful bake sale in which over 1100 dozen kiflis and 600 rolls were sold. Our church had a Federation Sunday in September, and we were honored to have both President George Dózsa and Secretary Endre Csornán of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America in attendance. 93
