Zoltán D. Szücs: Our churches and our federation
The signs are clearly there. We are in the same boat. We, the American Hungarian Reformed Churches and the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America have to struggle in harmony and together if we want the boat of our Hungarian Reformed lives in America to go forward. Let us go back to the Grassroots. Let us unite and work hand in hand again! If we do, our future will be assured and will be bright again. Let us gather, all of us, under our magnificent flag, and let us go forward arm in arm — For God and For Our Loved Ones! Only in this way, united and in brotherly love, can we make our future flourish for many years ahead and bring the Kingdom of God a step closer amongs us. At this gloriuos golden milestone of our Federation we bow our heads with thanks and admiration for the accomplishments of the past through committed and sacrificial work of so many and by the grace of our Heavenly Father. We humbly thank God the Almighty for His help, by granting strength, faith and abilities to our ancestors to make this all possible. We have a glorious and proud heritage to look up to. This is our bright guiding star. We have to resolve with Frederick W. Faber, who so well put into words the deepest and noblest desires of our hearts and minds when he wrote: Faith of our fathers! living still In spite of dungeon, fire and sword, O how our hearts beat high with joy When-e’er we hear that glorious word: Faith of our fathers, holy faith! We will be true to thee till death. Amen! Let it be so! This is our earnest and humble prayer for our Federation and for our churches. God, hear our prayers! Humbly yours in Christ’s service, Zoltán D. Szucs, Director Lorain, Ohio, January 15, 1996 94
