We greet our Christian brethren around the world in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ! The year 1989 was for our church family a very good one. By the grace of God, our fellowship has grown spiritually; we have increased our size numerically; and we have developed new programs and new ways to serve our Lord. On Easter Sunday our new assistant pastor, the Rev. Ferenc Varga and his family joined us. Rev. Varga was born in Sátoraljaújhely, Hungary. He and his wife Katalin and their son József came to America in August of 1987. Our pastors work well as a team and our church family is served by an effective bi-lingual ministry. Another important experience for our congregation was the historic visit in September of Bishop and Mrs. Elemér Kocsis from Debrecen. Through their presence and the Christian fellowship we shared our ties to the Reformed Church of Hungary were strengthened. On a week to week basis, the life and work of our congregation continued in earnest. The worship of God is our highest priority. Each Sunday morning we have a strong English and a strong Hungarian congregation. In addition to regular holiday service we have mid-week services at designated times during the year. Our worship committee helps in planning and in leading worship. The building of our Christian Education program continues under the direction of Mrs. Anna Souto. On Sunday mornings, religious education is offered for all people ages 2 to adult. In addition, we offer weekday Bible study, along with our annual 2 week summer Vacation Bible School and our annual marriage enrichment series. The Sunday School also sponsors several family nights, service projects, retreats and social events. A Cradle Hall was established this year to provide Christian guidance for parents of newly baptized infants. A Christian 177
