Parenting course is also now offered on a regular basis. Our Youth Fellowship program continues under the leadership of advisors Charles & Pam Carpenter and Bela & Babette Antal. Our goal is to increase youth involvement through Christ centered programming, service projects and social activities. In May we attended the annual youth conference sponsored by our midwestern Hungarian Reformed Churches. We also sent a bus load of young people to summer camp in August. President of the Youth Fellowship is Niki King. Our many church organizations continue their hard work in service to God and our church. The Ladies Aid, the Dorcas Guild, the Men’s Guild and the Golden Circle all raised much needed financial support toward the expenses of our church while at the same time provided Christian fellowship and social opportunities for its members. The Martha Circle is a service and social group made up mostly of younger women. Betty Chascsa, Helen Herman, Zigmond Faragó, George Kasza and Margaret Tarkanyi are the presidents of these respective organizations. Our church also hosts the monthly meetings of the Detroit area Szatmar County Association. We sponsor a Hungarian Folk Dance group under the leadership of Mrs. Velma Sabo. Our social hall and meeting rooms are used throughout the year for areawide Hungarian programs and celebrations. Our music program continues under the direction of Tim Loszewski. In addition to our fine adult choir we have a handbell choir and now a new Hungarian Choir. A Lenten racital takes place each year on the Sunday before Palm Sunday, an Advent racital on the last Sunday of November. And, of course, by the grace of God, we continue to expand our social service to members and the community. We have an active Nursing Home Visitation ministry and a Good Samaritan Ministry to help those in need. We have become involved in refugee resettlement here while continuing to send support to Hungary for the refugees from Erdély. We are involved in supporting the Bethlen Home, the Archives and the Hungarian Reformed Federation. Annually, members of our church attend the Labor Day Presbyters Conference in Ligonier. We are also a member of the Allen Park Council of Churches, and we participate in community worship services during the course of the year. We ask God’s blessings upon our sister congregations in 178
