Kálvin Egyházkerület

The spirit of Christian love was extended to the Magyar Presbyterian Church and the Hungarian Lutheran Church. During the month of March Rev. Frank Endrei visited his native land. Hungarian services were conducted at the Magyar Presbyterian Church and English services at our church in his absence. We continued these combined services during July and August. The hightlight of the summer was a ,,Pig Roast” with all the trimmings at our future site in Walton Hills. Our new trustees, William Paulos, Dr. Albert Ladányi and Edward Szabó contributed much to its success. Mr. Szabó, Ohio director of the Hung. Ref. Fed. of America, provided the beverages. On Sept. 20, a combined worship service was held at the Hungarian Lutheran Church, Rev. Frank Shepherd Juhász was the host pastor. Every tuesday the Templom Segélyző Soc. and a Men’s Work Crew gather to offer labors of love. The profits of the sale of the csiga and noodles help to sustain our church. In May the Youth Fellowshio under the leadership of Mr. and Mrs. Drew Smith hosted the Youth Conference of the Hungarian Reformed Churches. It was a great conference. Also 16 of our members attended Summer Camp. After a quiet summer, it is hoped that the group will revive it’s program of work projects and sevice to others. Many of the group participate in our teenage dance group, which is working feverishly to raise funds for their tour of Hungary in July 1988. The adult leader-sponsors of this group are Betty Rose and Elaine Galgány. Each month of fair weather the Men’s Brotherhood, with much support and work from the Sewing Club, sponsors a Flea Market. The profits of these organizational efforts are enormous. The Women’s Guild have collected recepies and prepared a cookbook, with the terasured (and often secret) recipes of our wonderful women (and men). The cost for almost 600 recepies is $8.00. They are available by mail through our church office. The vital statistics of our church include 2 confirmands, Andrea Taygiszer, daughter of former trustee, Andrew; Janet Taygiszer and Peter Harsányi, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Harsányi. We lost 19 members but through re-instatements and re-affirmation of faith, 23 members were gained, 3 babies were presented for baptism and 3 couples were united in matrimony and 17 members were laid to rest. Our church us about to move into 1988, under new leadership. We give thanks for the service of the men and women who have retired from active participation and from the consistory. Among those is Mr. Nicholas Majors who has been 135
