Kálvin Egyházkerület

1987 171 ducted by Frank Dudás, President of the Congregation and Synod Presbyter and Rev. Andrew Harto. Following the service the Members and Friends took part in a delicious dinner at the Holiday Inn, where Rev. Dr. John Butosi was the Master of Ceremonies of the Program. The Pastor and his wife and a large number of Church Members attended the 90th Anniversary Dinner of the Hungarian Reformed Federation at Bessemer Hall in Bridgeport. Suzanne Virgulák, Director of the Federation, and Ernest Virgulák, her husband were the planners of this successful dinner and program. Christine DeVald, Jenny Lynn Erdo and Elizabeth Pall for the 3rd year in a row went off to our Church Camp in PA. Debbie Klein was picked as one of the Assistant Drum Majors at her high school. Robert Kenez was chosen from among 600 carriers, the “Paper Carrier of the Year” by the Norwalk Hour. He had lunch with the Governor and a tour of the Capitol. Our Sunday School Staff and Teachers were dedicated on Oct. 12. They are: Robert Kish, Sharene Chiaia, Glorilynn Klein, Irene Lambert, Irma Leczo, Ernet Kenez, Tracy Bardos, Douglas Myers, Christine DeVald and Lisa Tingetts. A very successful Hawaiian Dinner Dance was held on Oct. 11. One of our own Church Members, Elizabeth Pall, won the trip to Hawaii. A special service was held on Oct. 26 at the Freedom Fighters’ Statue. In spite of the rain a large crowd remembered the 30th Anniversary of the Hungarian Freedom Uprising. On Nov. 15th the Women’s Guild, Ladies Aid, Men’s Brotherhood and members of the church once again held our Annual Harvest Fair. This is an all day affair raising money for our Operating Budget. On Dec. 7th we held a Brunch following the English service in the hopes of organizing a new group, “The Young Couples' Club.” During the year the Choir: William Hevesy, Steve Kalabany, Mary Kucsera, Judy Kucsera, Joan Hutkai and Irene Kurima, under the direction of Joseph Lucskay elevated our spirits with many beautiful anthems. The support of the Women’s Guild, (Pres. Judy Manko); Ladies Aid (Pres. Sara Kovats) and the Men's Brotherhood (Elek Késmárki, Pres.) and their members cannot be measured in dollars and cents. We are grateful to all of them as well as the members of the Consistory: Margaret Betts, Louis Bardos, Jr., Frank Dudás, Grace Dudás, George Dudás, William Hevesy, Ernest Kenez, Elek Késmárki, George Klein, John Kocsis, Judy Kucsera, Mark Kurima, Eleanor Majoros, Steve Manko, Jon Myers, Joseph Napoleon, Julius Pall, Stephen Papp, Elizabeth Szocs, Ernest Virgulák, Nancy Walsh.
