1980 79 GARY, INDIANA — Pastor: Rev. Joseph Benedek Mr. James Kovecsi, Sr., is the chief-elder. September 1978 through September 1979 was a very action filled period in our church family life. We celebrated our 65th anniversary on the 29th of April with a special worship service and a banquet. All the congregations of the Western Classis were represented by their delegates and guests. For this very special occasion our entire building was repainted; new ceiling lights were installed in our social hall and the kitchen. The lights in the kitchen were made possible b> memorial donations given in memory of Mrs. Barbara File. Also, a new ventilating system was installed. All the labor was provided by the men of our congregation. Our Hungarian Hymnals were rebound by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kulcsár. Ten new Hungarian Hymnals were donated by the members of our Congregation. Our Fellowship Circle’s ‘Magyar Magic’ cookbook was put on sale in November. The first print of one thousand books were sold out in four days. Since then we have reordered twice. They also have a project of making nutrolls for the bazaar and for the Christmas holidays. They place flowers on the Lord’s Table every Sunday throughout the year.
