Deborah Mondon: "Something to do, Something to love, Something to hope for”
1980 2 IS donations. We are happy to be able to transport both ambulatory and wheelchair residents. We have attended the local parades, the Circus and a picnic at Idlewild Park. Twin Lakes Parks has a fishing deck for wheelchair fishermen and 8 of our residents have fishing licenses. We plan Fall Color Tours for next year and Christmas Lights Sightseeing Tours this year. Our van gives us mobility and keeps us in touch with what is going on in the community, and we are very grateful for it. Entertainers come to our Home and are welcomed by an appreciative audience. The Hungarian Dance Troupe is a big favorite, as is Miss Julia Orosz. Once a month, a young local girl, Barb Massimo, plays piano music during the supper hour in the Dining Room. The Ligonier High School Band came to play an outdoor concert. The Sweet Adelines visit us twice a year and many other local singers and musicians visit also. Brownie Troop No. 208 came to our Halloween Party in their costumes and delighted bed-ridden patients with room-to-room visits. Speaking of Parties, we don’t miss a Holiday or Birthday .... we love to get together for cake and punch. The Covenant Presbyterian Church Ladies Guild puts on a monthly Birthday party (with presents) and the Mary Martha Guild of the Fairport Harbor, Ohio H.R. Church sends a card to each resident on his or her special day. Our residents look forward to Holidays and celebrations and several like to help decorate our Home.
