Church digest for our second and third generations

BETHLEN NAPTÁR 207 SOUTH BEND, IND. is the only Hungarian Presbyterian church in Indiana. Its pastor is the Rev. Stephen Kalabányi, who has stressed youth work for many years and built up a fine second generation membership. The congregation is working on plans to relocate its church in a more suitable and centralized, section of the city. CONGREGATIONS IN THE FREE MAGYAR REFORMED CHURCH PERTH AMBOY, N. J. is the first among the Free Magyar Reformed Churches, ministered unto by the first in office among the pastors of this church body: the Rev. Dr. Charles Vincze, who was recently reelected archdean for the second term. As a scholar theologian, he guides his congregation in deep Christian spirit. The beautiful church and parsonage have been remodeled recently. The pastor was honored in 1950 by being delegated to represent his church at the Congress of the International Council of Christian Churches held in Geneva, Switzerland. TRENTON, N. J. One of the largest eastern congregations of the Free Magyar group. Its old church was completely renovated last year. The newer structure is the recreation building of this church, which is one of the finest of its kind, erected under the pastorate of the Rev. Zoltán Béky, minister of the congregation for the past twenty years. He has been Dean of the Eastern Classis of the Church for many years. He was recently honored by being delegated to attend the Congress of the International Council of Christian Churches held in Sao Palo, Brazil. He is a members of the Board of Managers of the Bethlen Home. CARTERET, N. J. The Rev. Alexander Daroczy is pastor, whose wise guidance has brought the American spirit into the foreground in his congregation, the result of which is a large second generation membership with fine leaders. The church and parsonage are debt free. Plans are in the making for the celeb­ration of the golden jubilee of the Church. The pastor’s son will be ordained for the ministry in 1952. BRONX, N. Y. This is the youngest congregation in metro­politan New York. The church property includes a well built church and parsonage as well as recreation grounds, which are patronized during the summer months. The Rev. Joseph Urban, pastor of the congregation, is the editor of the Magyar Egyház, bimonthly religious periodical of the Free Magyar Reformed Church.
