A darab rendezője Tomási Károly azt a kijelen­tést tette, hogy a west sidei előadás azért volt olyan sike­res, mert amikor a függöny felgördült a szereplők azt lát­ták, hogy e mellett a szervezet mellett emberek állanak, akik értékelni tudják a szereplők fá­radtságos munkáját és ezért minden tudásukat, minden ér­zésüket, beletudták adni ebbe a munkás tárgyú drámába. Akik a west sidei előadáson részt vettünk igazat adunk To­mási Károlynak és a műkedve­lők szemüvegén keresztül a fenti meghatározás alapján azt kell itt bejósolnunk, hogy a most vasárnapi KIK A BŰNÖ­SÖK bemutatása olyan lesz, amilyet az East Side magyar­sága még nem látott. Alig van magyar ház az East Sideon, ahol nem készülődnek az előadásra, Ezért újból kér­jük a magyarságot, hogy korán jöjjenek, hogy ülőhelyeket kap­janak. A terem két órákon lesz nyitva, az előadás ponto­san három óra 30 perckor kez­dődik. A zenét Cleveland egyik leg­jobb tíztagú zenekara látja el, tekintettel a mulatság céljára — teljesen díjtalanul. Az autó bárók készülnek az esetleges sztrájk leverésére PITTSBURGH, PA. — Hogy az autómunkások maguk sem bíznak az Auto Labor Board által levezetett szavazás ered­ményében és félnek az automo­bil iparban bekövetkezhető ál­talános sztrájktól, misem bizo­nyítja jobban, mint a készülő­dés a sztrájk leverésére. Az acél ipar szócsöve a “STEEL” emigyen biztatja a munkálta­tókat : “Detroit aránylag ma több bizalommal van a Ford munkás viszonyok iránt, mint volt két évvel ezelőtt. Nem nagyítása a valónak, ha azt mondjuk, hogy Dearbornban (Ford birodalma) az agitátor, vagy AF of L szerve­ző egy fél órát sem időzhet anélkül, hogy a Ford-detektivek ne figyelnék és minden cere­mónia nélkül a város határára ne toloncolják.” “Munkás zavargás esetén, Detroit elvan készülve szigorú méretek alkalmazására a Tole­do és clevelandi engedékenység­gel ellentétben.” Toledoban a munkáltatók “engedékenysége” csak két munkás életébe került az Autó. Lite sztrájk idején — mondják a toledoi munkások. A General Motors Corp. Flin­ten is lépéseket tesz, hogy az esetleges autó sztrájk ne ta­lálja készületlenül. Ez éppen az ellenkezője a múltban gyakor­latban volt szabálynak, hogy csak családos és segélyen levő munkásokat vettek fel. Két­ségtelen hogy a General Mo­tors ezeket a tapasztalatlan fiukat akarja sztrájk esetén felhasználni sztrájktörőknek. ÁPRILIS 7-én, vasárnap délután Basky Ferenc tart előadást. “A munkás- osztály közeli jövőjéről.” Kérjük munkástársain­kat, hogy ezeken az előadá­sokon tömegesen jelenje­nek meg, a Bérmunkás Ott­honban 1351 Third Ave. Kezdődik délután 4 órakor About two billions of years ] ago, a lump fell off from the j sun. It might have been caused : by centrifugal force but more probably by the close passage ' of a star or comet that raised great tides on the surface and jerked part of it away. It so happened that the gravitation­al pull of the sun was able to counteract the centrifugal force enough to keep the “lump,” which was our earth, ninety- three million miles distant. It is a common fact that meteors are constantly travel­ing through space from one solar system to another. In their travels it is only natural that a few of them will run into some star or other hea­venly body. It is also common knowledge that recently scien­tists have discovered minute forms of animal life in the in­teriors of several intact me­teorites. Our flaming mass of gaseous matter is still out in space — a nice big target for meteors. The thousands of meteors that are attracted the earth each day are consumed instantly upon falling to it. At this point, no life whatsoever can exist on the planet. In the course of time, milli­ons of years later, the earth cooled to such an extent that the meteors are no longer burn­ed up. Now a hard crust is over the contracted surface and probably water vapor is formed from the cooled elem­ents peresent. Still later, vast oceans cover the earth. Eons had elapsed before a meteor enclosing animal life had arriv­ed and started developing on the fertile planet. The micro­organisms in the meteorite slowly developed from the stages of simple one-celled beings and jelly fish all the way up to reptiles and mam­mals ; then the final product — man. Man now looks about him at the lower animals and is proud that he is at the top of the scale. He doesn’t realize that he is as low as the worm he despises. For, is not all animal life to be likened as maggots of a dying planet? When the earth was younger and hotter, it was able to kill all “bacteria” that settled - on it. Everyone has seen a dead cat at one time or another and has noticed the little white worms squirming in and out of the carcass. While the cat was living, no worms could exist on it but as soon as the cat died and cooled, it became the hime and food of some wriggling visitors. I The earth is one big dead cat and we are the maggots dining on the slowly decomp- • osing planet. Some of the worms have been able to squ- ■ irm atop a portion of the car- . cass and proclaim ownership. r.The multitude of more help­less worms called them “cap­italists.” Now these worms are so powerful that if they tell the others. “Work lot and eat little” the order is carried out to the letter. The “mighty maggot” seems to have effect­ed a mass hypnotism to be able to accomplish this. In order to inspire fear into their hearts, the capitalist hires other worms termed “Priests” to prate religion to the masses. In this manner the worms comprising the labor­ers are kept from complain­ing about their appetites. Some of the worms, however, have been thinking the situation over and have decided that it was quite wrong for a mere handful of “worms” to keep so many millions of others from enjoying their brief existence on this gigantic “carcass.” So after due consideration of the matter, they got together, for­med a union and decided that “the working class and the employing class had nothing in common.” The master worms are doing everything possible to keep these justice-seeking worms from spreading the pro­paganda of truth to all of the toiling millions. Eventually, though, the masses will awak­en and start pushing in one direction to effect a change. When enough have joined in union the change will take place. Life will be easier for all and the capitalist worms, in order to live, will have to get down on their own hands and knees to earn their “bread’n* butter” — that is, if worms have hands and knees.” ■ ' : ! ! COMMENT. Ugh! Worms! Don’t ya hate ’em! But when a feller says yer a worm (and J. S. seems to know) well! Hmm, hmm! Can’t get over it! Ya must be a worm. Want to know what else he says? I’ll quote: “If someone else doesn’t start contributing articles to the column, you had better change the name to “J. S. ’s” column. ’It is better to have tried and failed than not to have tried at all.” Well, I’d sure hate to be in your shoes! Yours’n’ yours’n' yours! Altogether!
