ADMISSION AND LIFE AT THE UNIVER5ITY The University decides over applications according to the docu­ments submitted, and informs the applicants up to June 15th, 1984. Previous to the start of university studies, admitted students are invited for an interview to assesstheir preliminary knowledge. On the basis of documents of preliminary studies and the interview, the university teachers give advice on the pro­gramme and Schedule of studies, taking alsó the interest of the student into consideration. Students may actively participate in scientific research at the University, so as to acquire professional knowledge beyond obli­gatory subject matters, to be acquainted with methods of scien­tific research, and to satisfy thein interest. Students may have access to university libraties. The Central Library has a collection of nearly 360.000 volumes. At the mo­ment somé L500 periodicals, most of them from abroad, are subscribed to. In addition, institutes and departments possess many books and periodicals. An important part of them are in English, somé 70.000 books in English having been acquired in the last five years. Foreign students may be accommodated in students' hostels and obtain meals in canteen like other students, and are entitled to free access to facilities and services provided by the University /sports ground, cultural establishments, medical treatment, etc/.
