PEOPLE’S EDUCATION IN BAJA DURING THE RÁKOSI ERA

After World War II the country politics gave great publicity to the initiative coming from below of education inconsistent with the former national Christian order supported by the state. The relative freedom came to an end in 1948. The aim of Hungarian Workers’ Party was not freedom but absoluteness. The former competition became a state function. Civil rivalry was mop up, the struggle was decided. People’s education got a high priority in the educational policy of the era and became a mean of the political publicity. Its duty was to support the party line. The essay shows people’s education in Baja during the Rákosi era.

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY OF THE ARCHIVE OF BÁCS-KISKUN COUNTY

On the basis of the effective Archival Act except for their elementary duties archives have to manage educational work and have to familiarize their activities by publishing books, essays and articles, as well. Publishing the result of the scientific work in the archives and supporting the public educational the Archival Act of 1969 but this activity of our institute ordained activity has deeper roots in the past.

In 1950 county archive organised a lot of exhibitions either independently or together with another institute first of all for the anniversary of a significant historical event. Later the archive worked together with other educational institutes and with the press to widen its educational activity. The first annual of the archive has been published yearly since the middle of the 1970s and another ones since the 1990s followed this serial. The conferences organised since 1998, the colleagues’ extraarchival work and the website of the archive are competent to present the valuable documents of the archive and publish the scientific archival work.

The essay describes the educational activity of the archive in detail until 2006. Charts, bibliography and other attachments make the treatise more interesting.
