MRS ILONA KEMÉNYNÉ PINTÉR LETTERS FROM AMERICA (SOURCE PUBLICATION) András Nagy and his family emigrated from Szabadszállás to America in 1904. From these two letters to the clerk of his native village from 1907 and 1913 we can get to know more about the reasons of his voyage, his new circumstances, how he became a successful entrepreneur and later an American citizen. These letters are documentations of András Nagy's financial, social and intellectual rising but also memories of a sad period of Hungarian history. MRS MÁRTA KŐFALVINÉ ÓNODI THE BEGINNINGS OF GIRLS' EDUCATION IN KISKUNFÉLEGYHÁZA The girls' education in Kiskunfélegyháza in the 18-19 th centuries was neglected for a long time. However, it was typical of Hungary, the situation was worse in Kiskunfélegyháza where the girls' education was subordinated to the boys' until the 1890s. By the end of the 19 th century by achieving a higher middle class status, the inhabitants of the town had a greater demand for women's education. After some weak and unsuccessful efforts the financial support of Bishop of Vác, who was the highest authority of the town, made it possible to establish a great boarding-school for girls. On the basis of primary sources the study shows the difficult situation of the girls' education from the middle of the 1700s to 1908 when the Constantinum Boarding-School for Girls could start its operation. The 40 years of the education in this institute were the brightest period of the local girl education.
