farms). Studying these estates from different points of views - from the owners and from utilization - the economical changing of these settlements of Hungary being in a special situation after the Trianon Peace Treaty can be followed and we also get an answer how this market town could cope with the economical challenges of the dualistic era between the two world wars. GÁBOR CSERI THE AGRICULTURAL EXHIBITION OF SOUTH-PEST COUNTY IN KISKUNHALAS IN 1942 In that era Kiskunhalas was famous for its good wine, Kiefer-pear and last but not least for its beautiful lace. With its 120 000-hold territory and its 15 Hungarian "pusztas", it was the town which had the fifth biggest outskirts in the country. The Town Board of Representatives decided to organise an agricultural exhibition on 26 January, 1942. The aim of the exhibition was on the one hand to show the increase of the agricultural production of the South part of the county, and on the other hand to prove that the agricultural class did its duty in times of war, too.
