Displays The László Moholy-Nagy and the Lajos Kozma Scholarship Exhibition 2010 25th February - 3rd April 2011 Following a long tradition, the László Mo­holy-Nagy designer and the Lajos Kozma applied arts scholarship exhibition had been held again at the Museum of Applied Arts. Organized by the Hungarian Institute for Culture and Art and the Hungarian Design Council, the exhibition displayed designs, photographs of the works in progress and the works themselves, providing a showcase for the youngest talents in the field. The Light of the Pen 22"d-24th July 2011 This display, consisting of selected items of calligraphy from the Kuwaiti Islam Arts Centre collection, was put on by the Kuwaiti Embassy in Budapest especially to mark the fiftieth anniversary of Kuwaiti independence and the twentieth anniversary of the coun­try’s liberation following the Iraqi invasion. The exhibition was accompanied by work­shops and calligraphic demonstrations. The Lights of Faith - Menorah and Sanctuary Lamp 16th—25th September 2011 The exhibition, which took place on the oc­casion of the annual Ars Sacra Festival of 2011, chose as its central theme those reli­gious objects which are particularly related to light in the Jewish and Christian rituals. The exhibited pieces were the recently ren­ovated great menorah for the Salgótarján road Jewish cemetery in Budapest, designed by Béla Lajta in 1908, and the sanctuary lamp designed by Imre Steindl and execut­ed by Gyula Jungfer. Designed in Poland 30th September - 9th October 2011 The exhibition dedicated to the Polish tra­dition of amber jewellery and decorative objects made from amber and other natural materials formed part of Design Week 2011. It accompanied the Unpolished exhi­bition dedicated to Polish design. The pro­gramme included a fashion show held on 29th September. The Lajos Kozma and László Moholy- Nagy Scholarship Exhibition 2011 25th April-18th June 2012 This year again, the exhibition of works made by the holders of these scholarships were organised at the museum by the Hun­garian Design Council, in conjunction with the Hungarian Institute for Culture and Art. Impossible Objects - Competition and Display 14th June - 16th September 2012 This competition, that ran in parallel with the Art and Design for All exhibition, aimed to cast light on how the Victoria & Albert Museum and those applied art museums 114
