Hungarian Art Nouveau Furniture Designers, exhibition interior Archive, Zsolt Somogyi. Presenting the Hungarian Art Nouveau furniture in four sections, the exhibition showed objects from the museum, from other Hungarian public and private collections as well as from abroad (including loans from the Victoria and Albert Museum). The work of furniture designers was documented by both furniture pieces and design drawings and archive interior photos. The exhibition was opened by art historian Katalin Keserű on 24 September. Fringe events included the Art Nouveau Academy with presentations by the associates of the museum and the introduction of a book: Zsolt Somogyi's The Furniture Art of the Hungarian Art Nouveau published by Corvina, in association with the museum. The exhibition was open until 29 August. The museum was more intensely involved in the Design Week between 2 and 11 October than usual: it presented two exhibitions at the autumn muster of design. The Hungarian Design Council held the gala, at which the Hungarian Design Award, the Design Management prizes and the Oeuvre prize were awarded by the Ministry of Education and Culture, at the Museum of Applied Arts again, but this time the ceremony was heightened by the thirtieth anniversary of the establishment of the Hungarian Design Award. The exhibition of the prize-winning and other outstanding works of the competition (Hungarian Design Award 2009, 6 October - 22 November) was opened by the president of the Hungarian Patent Office and the Hungarian Design Council Dr. Miklós Ben138
