On 8-25 October the exhibition Finn fatale. Re-interpreting Nature presented the interpretation of nature by Finnish de­signers in the first years of the 21st century with the help of mass products, technologi­cal developments, novel use of traditional procedures and materials in addition to au­tonomous designs. The exhibition was jointly organized by the Design Forum Finland, the Finnagora, the Finnish embas­sy in Budapest and the Museum of Applied Arts. The curator was Laila Alanen with the assistance of Zsófia Kancler. At the opening Jari Viln, ambassador of Finland to Budapest and designer Harri Koskinen greeted those present. Another event of the Design Week was a two-day program un­der the aegis of Budapest Couture launched in 2009. The installation entitled Deep Wa­ter on 3 and 4 October showed the works of Hungarian haute couture fashion de­signers in a new context, together with con­temporary art works. The project was brought about by the First Hungarian Fashion Designers' Association in collabo­ration with Design Week, the Moholy­Nagy University of Art and Design, the Museum of Applied Arts and the Ministry of Culture and Education. An open round­table was held for the press to get inspired to launch a social polemic among Hungar­ian fashion designers and representatives of related branches of art about the role of Finn fatale.
