left-hand figure, a monk holding a skull-cup in his left hand (14), is perhaps Mai lo, or bSod nams rtse we;; 24 the other two (16-17) however, are either two other members of the series, or are Sakya monks who cannot be identified. A special feature of the reverse side of the picture are two imprints of the right hand of a high-ranking lama performing sanctification. In the appropriate centers (cakra-s) (foreheads, throats and hearts) on the bodies of individual deities, the Body, Speech and Mind of the enlightened personality are indicated by lantsa written syllables (OM ÄH HUM), which facilitate the summoning of the individual deities. The text itself contains the Sanskrit mantras 25 of various deites, followed by a brief Tibetan prayer. The transcription of the Sanskrit text is as follows: OM HÜM TRAM HRÏH ÄH / (mantras of the five-strong „Buddha family") OM DEVA PICU VARJA HÜM HÜM HÜM PHAT SVÄHÄ / (mantra of Hevajra) HAM KSA MA LA VA RA YA / (mantra of the ..Powerful Ten") OM YAMÄNTAKA HÜM PHAT / (mantra of Yamäntaka) OM VAJRAKÏLlKlLAYA SARVA VIGHNÄN BAM HÜM PHAT / (mantra of Vajrakïla) OM OM OM SARVABUDDHADÄKINTYE / VAJRAVARNANIYE / VÁJRÁVAIROCANIYE HUM HUM HUM PHAT PHAT PHAT SVAHA / (mantra of Vajrayogini) 26 OM BHÜTADÄMARA BHÜTAADHIPATI AKSOBHYA KIRITRINA SARVA BHÜTA PRETA PISACANA SADHAYA HUM PHAT / HUM VAJRA PHAT / (mantra of Bhütadämara Vajrapäni) OM MAHÄKÄLA HÜM PHAT / (mantra of Mahäkäla) OM SRÏ MAHÄKÄLAYA HÜM PHAT / OM RORU RORU VITISTHA / VATOSI KÁMALARAKSASI HUM BHYO HUM / (mantra of Panjara Mahäkäla) OM MAHÄKÄLA KALA VIKÄLARATRITA /DOMB INI/ CANDALT / RAKSASI / SINGALI / DEVI HUM BHYO HUM (mantra of another form of appearance of Mahäkäla) 27 TADHYATHÄ / Otyl RORU VITISTHA / VATOSI / MAMA RAKMO CITTA KHARAMO BHYO BHYO SVAHA (one form of appearance of Rematï has a similar mantra) 2 * OM VAISRAVANAYE SVÄHÄ / (mantra of Vaisravana) YE DHARMÄ HETUPRABHAVÄ HETUM TESAM TATHÄGATO HY A VADAT TESAM CA YO NIRODHA EVAM VADI MAHASRAMANAH (/) 2 " OM SUPRATISTHA VAJRAYE SVÄHÄ /
