The Ferenc Hopp Museum of Eastern Asiatic Arts in 1972

THE OF EASTERN FERENC HOPP MUSEUM ASIATIC ARTS IN 1972 Last year the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Eastern Asiatic Arts suffered a heavy loss: Dr. Tibor Horváth director of the Museum, one of the greatest Hungarian researchers and an indefatigable presenter of the Eastern civilizations deceased on 31 th March 1972. New acquisitions: 54 pieces. Among the purchases the outstanding piaces are : Hang­ing scroll in ink: Bunches of grapes, China, 14th century; Flat plate, porcellaneous ware covered with glaze, with moulded decora­tion of two birds, China, 11th century; Tea­cup, porcellaneous ware with blue and purple glaze, China, 12—13th century. The above mentioned objects of quality are from Dr. Tibor Horváth's legacy (Figs. 1—8.). Donations: K. Sankar Pillai, founda­tion-director of the International Doll Mu­seum in Delhi has donated 56 Indian dolls to our Museum. The objects have been enlisted in our Documentary-Archives. Acquisitions of the Library: The year's total increase amounted to 422 volumes, including 116 volumes of periodicals. We received 161 of the by exchange and a number of other publications were donated. Our thanks are due to the UNESCO, Paris; Tata Co., Bombay; The Japan Times, Tokyo; Dr. Géza Fehérváry, London; the Embassies of India and Japan, Budapest; Dr. Klein-Krautheim, Darmstadt; G. A. Pugacenkova, Taskent; G. N. Cubinasvili, Tbilisi. Exhibitions: Chinese porcelains in the stateroom of the Castle-Museum at Nagy­tétény, arranged by Géza Pajor and Mrs. László Kecskés. The exhibited objects were cleansed by Gábor Szabó restorer. Literary activities: László Ferenczy: A Meidzsi-kori japán művészet (1868—1912) kiállítása a Kína Múzeumban.
