Amerikai Magyar Reformátusok Lapja, 1933 (34. évfolyam, 1-50. szám)

8 AMERIKAI MAGYAR REFORMÁTUSOK LAPJA out through its doors into the Court of Honor, we became aware of soft twilight settling all about us. A voice that came from a megaphone told everygne there that the time was again at hand when a ray from the star Arcturus would bring about the illumination of the buildings of the Fair. We gazed up toward the heavens and suddenly a report as that of a cannon told us that the ray had started to travel and to touch the buildings on its way across the area of the Fair. Our hearts leaped in sheer joy as our eyes scanned the distance and saw buildings become one glorious mass of light. Altho, my mind was unable to comprehend all this glory about me, and I could not define the scientific significance of it all, I was happy to know that I could thrill to its beauty in every fiber of my being, and that above all I could feel humble and know, more than ever before, how great my God is. He had given all this to man. And yet there are so very few people who know and realize His greatness. My throughts carried me to the other delegates who, from other places, were viewing this same spectra with me. Would they connect this ray of light with God and the message it had for our Conference? Jesus is the Light of the world. These Conference days we were spending at His feet were preparing us to become witnesses of this great Light. For the first time in the history of our Union’s Conferences, we, Magyar young people, gathered together from many parts of America, together partook of the Holy Bread and Wine, sealing our Covenant with Christ. Rays of light from that great Light of the World filled the hearts of all the delegates. Several weeks have gone by since the Conference. Two hundred fourteen young people, carrying with them the rays of light they received from their Master, left the Conference to go back to their own churches where they would witness for Him. How many of these rays have ignited other hearts into the service for Christ? Young people be not afraid to use your rays of light. Christ is always ready to supply you with more. It took forty years for that Arcturus ray to reach the earth, and it may take a long time before you may ignite a soul but when that ray once enters the heart of man how beautiful it is to see its illumination. How glorious is the illuminated soul of man when he finds his Saviour. Rays bear witness of the Light. Christ said “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Those rays of light that our Young People carry in their hearts may light the way for many other young people and help them safely across the shore where the LIGHT OF THE WORLD awaits us all. What glories we shall behold as we use our rays of light and witness for our God Who is so GREAT! Elisabeth Komáromy. C=aSE]t=]G] [=]E=0 TO OUR C. E. AND Y. P. SOCIETIES. At t'he conference in Chicago it was suggested that we try to make this Department a more intimate and interesting one. This worthy suggestion met with encouraging approval and, as a consequence, I am drawing your attention to it. In the past year or so we, in collaboration with a number of you willing volunteers, endeavored to make these columns as helpful and inspirational as we possibly could. I am sure we are all grateful to those wiho wrote articles for our mutual edification in this section. And I earnestly hope they will continue to do so in the future. It is obvious that to ac'hive our goal your hearty cooperation and ready assistance are needed. This Department in the ’Ref. Lap is your vehicle. So give us a hand to make it a growing source of real benefit. Here are some things w7e can all do. First and foremost to benefit by the articles in this Department — you must get the paper! The subscription is very reasonable; only two dollars a year. If you will subscribe to the Ref. Lapja you will be doing a favor to the whole family — the old folks, your younger sisters and brothers as well as yourself. What I would want very much from the various societies is this: A concise report of a successful entertainment, a helpful gathering, an instructing discussion, etc. so that by sharing our ideas and plans all of us could obtain some profit. To paraphrase a song: if you had a blessing, pass it on. You could send these reports to me (95 Crowland St. Welland, Ont.) as decided at the conference or you could forward them direct to the Editor of the paper. As you choose. But the main.thing is that you — send them! In this coming year I sincerely pray we will all work together for the common good. Let us all do our part!
