Devoutly the believers list The holy man’s advice — Only a beggar woman moans And heart-rendingly cries. A Wedding. The pulpit filled by youthful priest A bride about to bless, God knows His servant’s suffering The young priest’s great distress. With trembling voice his sacred word Fastens the nuptial ties; The fair young bride alone knows why Heart-rendingly she cries. Translated by: William N. Leow. CHRISTMAS WORSHIP PROGRAM. INSTRUMENTAL PRELUDE: Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Glory to the New Born King! CALL TO WORSHIP: After the heartbreak of a bitter year, After the strange bewilderment of fear and doubt, Tonight the world rekindles many a fire That has burned out. For is it not the birthmight of a King? We shall forget the burdens borne for long And there shall be new gladness in our hearts, And in song. “Joy to the world”, that long has needed joy; “Joy to the world, the Lord is come,” we sing, And everywhere the hearts of people lift, Remembering. And we will light our candles, hang our wreaths, Preparing for a joyous holiday; Then down the winding roadway of the years. We take our way. To Bethlehem where lies a new born babe Beneath the star dust, filtering on a stall, The whole world seeking, loving One who came TO LOVE US ALL! ÉNEK: Az Istennek szent angyala. (1-2 verseit.) MINDNYÁJAN: Mert egy gyermek születik nékünk, fiú adatik nékünk, és az uralom az Ő vállán lészen, és hivják nevét: CSODÁLATOSNAK, TANÁCSOSNAK, ERŐS ISTENNEK, ÖRÖKKÉVALÓSÁG ATYJÁNAK, BÉKESSÉG FEJEDELMÉNEK! HYMN: Oh little town of Bethlehem. (1st verse.) BIBLIA OLVASÁS: Lukács 2: 8—14. HYMN: Oh little town of Bethlehem, (last three verses.) VEZETŐ: És lön, hogy mikor elmentek az angyalok ő tőlök a mennybe, mondának a pásztoremberek egymásnak: Menjünk el mind Bethlehemig, és lássuk meg e dolgot, a melyet az Ur megjelentett nékünk. MINDNYÁJAN: Elmenének azért sietséggel, és megtalálák Máriát és Józsefet, és a kis gyermeket, ki a jászolban fekszik vala. ÉNEK: Óh jöjjetek mind ide kis gyermekek. (1—3-ik verseit.) BIBLIA OLVASÁS: Máté: 2: 1—11. HYMN: We Three Kings of Orient Are. (1st and last verses.) POEM: (Read by a member.) “What means this glory round our feet”, The Magi mused, “more bright than morn?” And voices chanted clear and sweet, “Today the Prince of Peace is born.” “What means that star”, the shepherds said, “That brightens through the rocky glen? And angels, answering overhead, Sang, “Peace on earth, good will to men.” (J. R. Lowell.) SOLO: DUET: or QUARTETTE: CSENDES ÉJ, SZENTSÉGES ÉJ! PRAYER: Our Heavenly Father, on this, the birthday of thy Son, grant that all the gifts we may have received shall make us think of thy greatest gift of all. Help us to make our Christmas very full of memories of Christ, and teach us to be Christ to others about us, that from our very garments may flow the virtue that shall heal and bless all who touch us. As our gifts to him, help us to do in our imperfect way a few of the lovely things He would do if He were here himself in our place. ÁMEN. (Adapted from J. R. Miller) (FOLLOWED BY SENTENCE PRAYERS.)
