Megírtuk, hogy a keleti vasutak úgy határoztak, hogy az eddig szokásos vasúti féljegyeket, köztük természetesen a lelkészi félj egyeket is, január 1-től kezdődőleg beszüntetik. November elején hozták ezt a határozatot, amely ellen azonban, úgy látszik, erősen tiltakoztak az érdekeltek. A tiltakozás nem volt hiábavaló, mert a múlt hét folyamán a Clergy Bureau szétküldte az 1933-ik évre szóló kérvény-blankettákat. A vasúti féljegyek tehát továbbra is érvényben maradnak. Lesson: Luke 10: 25—37. Our Scripture lesson today is most appropriate, and I’d like to have everyone of you read it thoughtfully and prayerfully at least twice. If you do, you will certainly find a very comprehensive view of the Master’s teaching on brotherhood. Really, what is meant by brotherhood? Let each of you answer this question in his or her own individual way. Brotherhood is a state in which the members are closely united by a common interest; it signifies a common parentage; it denotes and presupposes a friendly intimacy among its members; in other words, a state in which love is the binding, constraining and forgiving force. What is the greatest tragidy in society? Death? Oh no! Something worse. Life! Life as it is lived in some of these so called homes, whether palaces or cottages, whether on Upper Main Street or across the tracks; where the community of interest has been forgotten; where selfishness is in possession, exclaiming, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” instead of the spirit of Jesus, heeding his message: “That ye love one another...” Remember — love, like the sun, does not inquire upon whom it shall shine, or whom it shall warm by the very law of its own being. Be a brother to the lonely, A neighbor to the weak, A friend to the lost and weary, A helper to the meek. Frank Nagy. THE VISION OF A STRONGER UNION. “Where there is no vision”, said a wise man of old, “the people perish.” No truer statement ever left the lips of men than the one here expressed. Men as well as nations ever advanced and endured only in proportion to the ideals and visions that were set before them. It was thru visions that God revealed Himself and His will to men i,n the history of man. Through visions men like Abraham, Jacob, Peter, Paul Washington, Lincoln and Gandhi were permitted to look beyond the ordinary things of life into the realms of the eternal and were led into the secret of the highest attainment of success and happiness. On the contrary, where an individual had no vision to which, like a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, he could lift his eyes in hope and aspiration, his life and work must have been empty, dull and worthless.
