Hungarian Ambassador Met Los Angeles Leaders

György Szapary, the Hungarian Ambassador to the United States, recendy visited Los Angeles to discuss political, social and economic matters with Los Angeles leaders. Los Angeles Fire Commissioner Andrew Friedman presented the Ambassador to Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca for a discussion pertaining to policing problems which are common to Budapest and Los Angeles.

In view of recent issues involving anti-semitic statements within the Hungarian Parliament, Commissioner Friedman hosted a breakfast at the Wiesenthal Center. In addition to the Oliver Pinter Consul, Lee Baca L.A. leaders of the Wiesenthal Center, the breakfast was attended by County Sheriff, György Szapary member of the Anti-Defamation League and members of the Hungarian Ambassador, Andrew American Jewish Committee. The Ambassador stated that the Friedman Fire Commissioner extreme right wing Hungarian political party, “Jobbik,” is not a member of the government and the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has publicly declared that Hungary has “zero tolerance” for any anti-semitism whatsoever.
