AMERICAN Hungarian Journaf Congressman Cox strongly endorses Hungary’s immediate entry into NATO United States Congressman Christopher Cox (R-Calif.) has announced he is co-sponsoring H.R. 4210, the NATO Expan­sion Act, and is urging Presi­dent Clinton to support the im­mediate admission of Poland, Hungary and the Czech Repub­lic into NATO. "I don’t know what could bet­ter qualify for membership in NATO than fighting commu­nism for 40 years", Cox said in a recent letter to László Heredy, Ph.D., of Irvine. The congress­man said he will work toward assisting these countries achieve full NATO membership before Jan. 10, 1999, the fifth anniver­sary of the beginning of the Partnership for Peace program. Dr. Frank deBalogh of Pasa­dena, national chairman of the Hungarian American Republi­can National Federation, com­mended Dr. and Mrs. Heredy for their significant role in secu­ring Congressman Cox’s co­sponsorship of this legislation which so crucial to Central Eu­ropean nations. DeBalogh said he is grateful to the Heredys for their continued personal friendship and support of the congressman, which should serve as a model for the Hunga­rian community.
