Time to start thinking about vacation plans. And don’t forget Uncle Sam on April 15th! — 76-V — March 15th is an age-old date for rememberance of the freedom fighters of 1848 in Hungary. And those, too, who gave their all in October, 1956. — 76-V — We wish to express happy birthday wishes to our members who are celebrating March birthdays. By name, John Britton, Katherine Debrey, John Joseph Érsek, Joseph Gacsi, Francis Geisz, Julius Glöckner, Julius Glöckner, Jr., James Alex Gloner, Thomas Imparato, Jerry Karavias, Patricia Krayer, Helen Kusmann, Louis Lovas, Mrs. Albert Molnár, Carman Mudry (our treasurer), Zoltán Naszály, Mrs. Pink Patten, Paul Prounchick, Francis Rooney, Mrs. Stephen Sable, Margaret Schmidt, Mrs. Earl Shoemaker, Mrs. William Smith, and Sandra Elizabeth Szemes. — 76-V — We extend the hand of welcome and cooperation to the following new members of Branch 76-V: MRS. THOMAS SCHUSTER, MRS. HARRY SCHUSTER, LOUIS BAREGI, JOSEPH MORGAN, JOSEPH O’NEILL, ELIZABETH SCHULTZ, JOSEPH FARKAS, MRS. MICHAEL GERGELY, EUGENE KOVÁCS, Friends, your correspondent is at a loss for words at this time, since the grapevine has been silent and there hasn’t been much of interest appearing on my desk to bring to your attention. However, I will try to given you some food for thought. The Tournament trail grows nearer and the time grows shorter for all you members who are going to participate in our National event. This annual affair will be held in Dayton, Ohio this year, and we know from past experience that Dayton is quite a bowling center, with many of Ohio’s top bowlers being from this section. We hope that this will arouse the competitive spirit in all our fellow bowlers to go there to “shoot the works” and walk away with the prizes. We, here in Columbus, have plans for entering about 16 teams and,, believe me, we will be in there “pitching” too. I know that you will be greeted with open arms and shown every courtesy to make your stay in Dayton an enjoyable and memorable one. The way things shape up now, this tournament promises to be one of the biggest and best. Having bowled on the National Bowling Lanes in the past, I can assure you that they are excellent alleys. Of course you all know that a certain amount of luck enters into the bowling game, and you’ve got to have it when you’re out there throwing for those strikes. Just to be on the safe side, I have my rabbit’s foot in my pocket! All kidding aside, friends, here’s wishing each and every one of ALEXANDER ÜVEGES. — 76-V — We have a few sick members whom we would like to cheer up with a wish for speedy and permanent recovery. They are Mr. Michael Staszko, Mr. Joseph Miko, Mr. Geza Benes, and Mr. Stephen Vig. — 76-V — Belated happy St. Patrick’s Day to the Irish whose history has been one of much woe. _ 76-V — One of our Illustrious members is Michael Pokorny. Congratulations on your fine work previously! — 76-V — On March 9th we had our regular monthly meeting during which time we discussed our 50th Anniversary affair. It promises to be an event well worth remembering, and much work is in store for the committee on preparations. — 76-V — Be sure to come to our meetings at 1144 N. Fourth Street. Our next one will be on April 17th. The meetings don’t last long and the ensuing gabfests and storytelling after them are the high points of the meeting. 8 o'clock is the starting time. _ 76-V — Cordially and fraternally, L. LOUIS HORVATH 2107 Market Street Philadelphia 3, Pa. sound journey to and from the Tournament. BELATED MEMÓRIÁM: — We wish to take this opportunity to offer our sincerest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the Tokár Family, in the loss of their beloved Mother, Mrs. Mary Tokár, who gave to our local branch, here in Columbus, two of her finest: Louis Tokár, our District Manager, and George Tokár, our Lodge President. ODDS & ENDS — Ben Janvuary, one of our regular bowlei-s, will be out for the balance of the season, because of a broken arm. Tough luck, Ben, as we will miss you, but don’t let that arm keep you away from Dayton, Ohio. We shall need all the “rooters” we can get! May we wish a very happy wedding anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Tony Mancini, who will be celebrating their second anniversary on April 9. They always say, Mary and Tony, that the first 50 are the hardest! May you have a long and happy life together! Well friend, this is “thirty” for this time.
