A Csepel Művek víztornya

Az 1960-as években érte el a Csepel Vas- és Fémművek munkáslétszáma csúcspontját, amikor is közel 40 ezer ember dolgozott az óriási csarnokokban. Ekkorra a gyártelep belső vízhálózata is megérett a rekonstrukcióra.

A beruházást több évig halogatták, főleg anyagi okokból, mígnem 1969. augusztus 19-én átadták a jelenlegi víztornyot azzal a céllal, hogy a hatalmas gyártelep ivóvízellátását biztosítsák. A 37 m magas betonmonstrum két tartálya együttesen 2500 m’ víz tárolására alkalmas. A már nem működő víztorony törzsében körlépcsőn lehet feljutni a tartály alatti csőkamrába, majd onnan a tartály közepén átvezető létrán a tetőre. A torony tetején koronaként körbefutó Csepel Művek felirat messziről jelzi, hogy hol is található az építmény.

This project was delayed for years due to financial difficulties. Finally the new water tower was completed on August 19,

1969 and ensured the drinking water supply of the huge plant. The two tanks of this over 37 m tall concrete giant are able to store 2500 m3 meters of water.

The water tower is not in operation any more. The tunnel chamber under the tank can be reached through a spiral staircase inside the base of the water tower. On top of the tower the ‘Csepel Művek' sign can be seen from a long distance.
