FRATERNITY 13 VII. PAYROLL AND PAYROLL TAXES We handled payroll records and computed payroll taxes. The properly completed tax reports, together with the taxes, were always submitted to the state and federal tax agencies on time. In order to form an idea of this steadily growing task, kindly look into the tax records in my office and consider the fact that the number of our employees jumped from 25 to 45 during the last eight years. VIII. REINSURANCE Certificates with more than $15,000 insurance in force are reinsured with the North American Reassurance Company since October 1, 1964. It is my duty to determine and report such certificates, as well as every change which might occur during the cessation period. IX. OTHER DUTIES a) I am the Chairman of the Employees’ Retirement Benefit Fund. The balance of the Fund on December 31, 1964, was $118,316.56. The Fund has 18 participating members and 5 pensioners. b) Together with the Treasurer, I prepared a monthly statement of Income, Disbursements and Assets which was published in the official paper, “Fraternity”. c) As one of the guardians of the deposit boxes, I accompanied the Treasurer 31 times to the bank vault during the year. d) As the Controller of the Bethlen Home, I attended five meetings in Ligonier, Penna. I am happy to report that the Home closed its Expense Fund with $32,994.12 and carried a balance of $8,995.37 on the Building Fund. e) I recorded the minutes of the Supreme Council for the past eight years. f) For the sixth consecutive year, I served as Treasurer of the American Hungarian Federation. Despite unusually difficult circumstances we were able to preserve this sixty-year-old institution for the Hungarian American posterity. I gratefully acknowledge the good service of the employees working in my office. Dr. Anthony Postenyi, Dr. Zoltán Korossy, Tibor Baksy, Mrs. John Csorba, Julius Gaal, Mrs. George Zaboji and Elizabeth Nagy are worthy of the appreciation of the Supreme Council. I express my sincere thanks to my fellow officers, members of the Supreme Council and to our loyal workers in the field and in the home office. Hoping that my report will meet with your approval and gain final acceptance, I remain Fraternally yours, LÁSZLÓ L. ESZENYI, Controller
