The communication of the cultural differences in a Hungarian-Gypsy coexistence in a village settled along the Târnava Micä river] The paper analyzes symbolical attitudes, gestures of separation, mental structures of the Hungarians over against Gypsies in a Hungarian village settled along the Kis-Küküllő river (Târnava Micä) in Transylvania (Romania). The conclusion of the author is that there are no real modifications of how the Hungarians think about the Gypsies in spite of the efforts made by these to strategically and culturally accommodate to the Hungarian community. The structural difference between the two societies still exists, in spite of mixed marriages, unbiological affinities, and in spite of Hungarian-like lifestyle and economical strategies of the gypsies. The devaluation of the gypsies by the Hungarians is addressed to the gypsy community, in everyday life relationships it is not expressed categorically, but symbolically it is present. Comunicarea diferen^elor culturale într-o convietuire rom-maghiarä de pe valea Târnavei Mici] Studiul analizeazä atitudinile simbolice, gesturile de separare, structurile mentale ale maghiarilor în privinta romilor. Concluzia autorului este cä în privinta imaginii construite despre romi, nu s-au produs modificäri semnificative, contrar eforturilor de integrare ale romilor în comunitatea majoritarä maghiarä. Nici atitudinea romilor de a se acomoda la modul de viatä a maghiarilor, diminuarea diferenjelor economice dintre cele douä etnii, chiar schimbarea situatiei economice în favoarea romilor nu au fost de ajuns pentru a schimba mentalitatea negativa a comunitätii maghiare despre romi. Diferentele structurale dintre cele douä lumi exista în continuare, în ciuda cäsätoriilor mixte si fraternitätii dintre romi si maghiari. Subestimarea romilor de cätre maghiari este adresatä mai aies comunitätii romilor în totalitate; desi în relatiile zilnice personale, colegiale sau de înrudire subaprecierea nu este exprimatä în mod categoric, totusi simbolic este prezentä.
