Engineering and technology implemented at Bázakerettye ranked among the most modern of its kind at the time, and determined the path for future development even in the sixties. Solutions from the Bázakerettye technology are all but reappear at the French designed gas processing plant in Hajdúszoboszló. Table no. 7. serves as a comparison of plants in Hungary. Figures in the table provide clear indicadon that the technological solutions at the gasoline plants must have been state-of-the-art. The development of crude oil transportation Rapidly increasing crude oil production also generated significant transportation tasks. The distance of oil refineries (Pét, Szőny, Csepel) required that transportation is given due consideration, since MÁV - the Hungarian State Railways - intended to hike transportation fees significantly after the first year. Thus a decision was made concerning the construction of an oil pipeline. This pipeline was completed with a diameter of 8", scaled to 60 atm pressure, by November 28,1941. It practically connected fields in Southern Zala with refineries around Budapest. Delivery from Pusztaszentlászló was connected to the Újudvar sectionalising stadon. It had a 3" branch-off to the Pét refinery at Mezőszentgyörgy, along with a 4" branch-off to the Almásfüzitő and Szőny refineries at Kápolnásnyék. 55 Bl'DA-KOYÁCS 1987 157
