MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 15. oldal Conference on Sunday, May 7, in Trenton, NJ. This was one of the best attended conferences in the past few years. On Mothers’ Day our Sunday School children participated with a short program in the church to honor all women: Mrs. Michelle Varga Scott should receive credit for the fine work. A covered dish dinner was well attended by our members and friends. The church council awarded the annual Cherie Varga Memorial Scholarship Fund to a High School student, who showed the most improvement during the last year. In our prayer we remembered the following church members: Bert Bartha had a successful eye operation; Christopher Varga had a minor auto accident, he is fine; Mrs. Elizabeth Kisded was hospitalized in Mount Holly Medical Center. John Csanyi who was 74 years of age, was called home by our Heavenly Father. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Edwin Stern supply pastor, and the Rev. D. Abraham, former pastor of the church. May God comfort the bereaved members of the Csanyi family. PERTH AMBOY, NJ As we share our church life with our readers on the months of May and June, we are happy to begin by saying, that just before the summer months we had a very active, very lively church life. On May 4th Ascension Thursday during an evening service the Confirmation of our young people took place. After two years of instruction our young people were truly prepared for this big step of giving witness of their knowledge of the Church’s teachings, and their commitment to the cause of Christ. We congratulate Jessica Berecsky, Todd Cairns, Karen Lovász and Tara Silagyi and their families. On May 7th, following the morning Divine Worship services, our church bus was ready to transport a great majority of our ladies to the Annual Women’s Conference held by our sister church in Trenton, NJ. Report on the conference is provided in this issue of the Magyar Egyház. On May 14th we commemorate the Birthday of the Christian Church — Pentecost, and during our worship service extended our love and gratitude in honor of Mother’s Day. Our church was filled to capacity. During the service we greeted mothers in our midst and remembered those who have given their lives back to Almighty God. Flower presentation was made in behalf of the church by the members of our Christian Education — Sunday School. Following the service, Fellowship Coffee Hour, and Plant sale was sponsored by the Fellowship Circle in honor of mothers, and flower plants were on sale to assist our young people to attend the Summer Youth Camp. On May 28th, Memorial Sunday, during our worship services we remembered our War dead, who by their lives guarded our freedom and secured a better life for us all. On this same day at 2:00 p.m. we gathered in our Calvary Cemetery for Special Services, and conducted the dedication of Tombstones, erected in memory of loved ones. Attendance was very good. With the arrival of June, we reached the first half of the active church life. Our church organizations wind up their activities, but as a congregation our work never stops. Our plans are in gear for an Old Fashion Picnic, which is to be held on Sunday, June 18th. Our Combined Worship Service on this day will be held in the Church yard at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Church Family Picnic. We request all those who desire to attend to come dressed casually, with the spirit of having family fun. With June the school year also comes to a close. We extend our greetings to all those who will graduate, and extend an invitation to our young people for a fun filled Vacation Bible School, planned to begin on June 26th, Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. Our church bus again will be available to transport those, who are unable to come. Please notify us to prepare our route. We appeal ayain for teachers, our school will be only as successful as we make it. May the spirit of God inspire our members to give us a helping hand. To all our members and readers we wish a joyous and peaceful summer. YOUNGSTOWN, OH Services for the Easter season were very well attended.
