The Oriental Collection of international renown and the Department of Manuscripts and Old Books deserve special mention. In addition to the main library, the Academy's research institutes and centres also maintain special libraries, some of which are of national importance in their particular fields of learning. The Institute's current responsibilities include to render scientific and administrative services to the Academy's high officials and leading bodies; research in science and technology policies in international comparison with a special view to the East-Central-European countries. Its current services include the preparation of working papers and other documents for use by the high officials and committees of the Academy; providing expert advice to other national R&D policy bodies and agencies; maintaining and updating databases of the Academy's information system. Current research projects include the analysis and comparative study of science and technology policies in Hungary and various other countries.
